Vaes Leisi
Vaes Leisi is a ruined city in Essos, set on a peninsula facing the Shivering Sea, north of the lands of the Ifequevron.
Its Dothraki name means "city of ghosts", and that is no accident: the people who built it vanished long before anyone was left to tell their story.
Chapter 1
The city of ghosts
Books only
Dothraki riders named it in their own tongue: vaes, city, and leisi, a word tied to lei, ghost. To them, Vaes Leisi was simply that — a place inhabited by spectres.
The name is not just a stray legend but a description of what remains there: empty stone on a remote peninsula, far enough from the khalasar routes that no one bothers to argue over what it once was.
Chapter 2
The walkers of the wood
Books only
Before the Dothraki, a people now vanished lived there. The Dothraki themselves called them the Ifequevron, the walkers of the wood, and all that survives of them is what they carved into the stone.
Hand-carved trees still stand in the city, along with grottoes people still call enchanted. No one has since explained who the Ifequevron were or why they left; only what they carved remains.
The physical world
El nombre de la ciudad es de origen Dothraki. Vaes significa ciudad y Leisi, palabra que deriva de Lei, que significa fantasma, por lo que se podría traducir como "ciudad de los fantasmas".
