Vaes Leqse (Gornath)

Vaes Leqse is the Dothraki name for the ruins of Gornath, an old city of the kingdom of Sarnor that stood by the Silver Sea, north of the Dothraki Sea.
What survives of it is mostly the tale of its fall: a city that chose to strike a bargain with the riders rather than fight them, only to end up under their rule regardless.
Location and name
The ruins stand east of the kingdom of Sarnor and north of the Dothraki Sea, on the shore of the Silver Sea. A nearby river gathers those waters and carries them down to the Bay of Fangs.
Its present name combines two Dothraki words: vaes, meaning city, and Leqse, whose origin is not fully certain, though it may come from a term meaning to weep. Some read the full name, then, as 'city of weeping'.

Century of Blood
Under its old name of Gornath, the city belonged to the kingdom of Sarnor. When the Century of Blood broke out, its king broke ranks with the other Sarnori kings and sought Dothraki support against them.
The bargain did little good: twelve years later, the very riders it had allied with went on to conquer Gornath as well.
