Alys Harroway

In 39 AC, while still a prince and Hand of the King, Maegor Targaryen married Alys in a secret ceremony, performed in the Valyrian rite by Queen Visenya. But Maegor already had another wife, Ceryse Hightower, so the marriage could not be made public without consequences.

When it came to light, the scandal drove Maegor into exile in Pentos, and Alys followed him there the next year. Only when her husband returned to Westeros and took the crown did Alys finally gain recognition as one of his queens.

As queen, Alys had a visible role when her husband married Tyanna, his third wife: she performed the bedding ritual and spent the wedding night with the newlyweds.

In 44 AC, Alys was the first of Maegor's wives to fall pregnant, but she lost the child soon after conceiving. The baby was born deformed and without eyes, and the king's fury fell on the midwives, the septas who had attended the birth, and Grand Maester Desmond, all of whom he had executed.

Queen Tyanna then convinced Maegor that the child was the result of an affair of Alys's, and that accusation led to the deaths of Alys's ladies-in-waiting, her father Lord Lucas Harroway — who was also Hand of the King — and every Harroway the king could find between King's Landing and Harrenhal.

Alys met the cruelest fate of all Maegor's wives: she was handed over to Tyanna, and it is said her agony lasted fifteen days of torture while the king himself watched.

Her body was later cut into seven pieces and mounted on spikes across as many gates of the city.

Years later, in 48 AC, Tyanna herself confessed that she had poisoned the child Alys carried.
