Lucas Harroway

When Lord Gargon Qoherys died, King Aenys I Targaryen granted the lordship of Harrenhal to Lucas Harroway, turning him into the head of a house that until then had held little weight.

His daughter Alys married Prince Maegor Targaryen in secret, while Maegor served as Hand of the King to his brother Aenys. Maegor already had another wife, so the king answered the marriage by exiling the couple, and Alys followed her husband to Pentos.

When Maegor inherited the throne, he named Lord Lucas his Hand, though he barely heeded his counsel, listening instead to Visenya, the widowed queen and the king's mother, and to his wives Alys and Tyanna.

Lucas also lent his forces to the crown: together with a Lord Tully, he commanded the riverlands troops that fought beneath the Gods Eye to put down the rebellion of Prince Aegon Targaryen.

When Alys lost the child she was carrying, Queen Tyanna convinced a devastated Maegor that Lucas had sent men to his daughter's bed to get her with child. Of the twenty men named, only two broke under torture, and one of them still had the money Lucas had given him.

In his fury, Maegor ordered the death of the entire house. Lucas was thrown from the roof of the Tower of the Hand while inspecting it, and his sons, daughters, brothers and nephews met the same end. The two accused men and twelve others they had named were also executed. The king then marched his troops on Harrenhal and on Lord Harroway's Town, determined to leave no line behind.

Years later, when Queen Jeyne Westerling suffered a miscarriage like Alys's, Maegor had Tyanna arrested, and she finally confessed that she had caused Alys's loss as well.
