Gormon Massey
Gormon Massey was the lord of Ballarroca, head of House Massey in the Crownlands, and one of the nobles who sided with Rhaenyra Targaryen when the realm split into two camps over the Iron Throne.
He sat on the Black Council that ran the princess's cause from Dragonstone, in the opening moves of the war later known as the Dance of the Dragons.

The man who tried to ride Vermithor

Rhaenyra TargaryenWith war already declared, Dragonstone filled with lords and adventurers willing to risk their lives for a dragon. The black faction needed riders for the island's ownerless beasts, and Lord Gormon was one of those who stepped forward.
He chose Vermithor, a dragon that had once carried a king and had gone unridden for years. The beast did not accept him: Gormon burned to death in the attempt, in the year 129, never seeing how the war he'd sworn to serve would end.
