Karstark was the father of Rickard Karstark, who would go on to lead House Karstark and the castle of Karhold. He had a younger brother named Arnolf, and almost nothing else is known of his own time in the house.
Heir of Karhold
Whether he ever actually sat as Lord of Karhold is unknown, but for his son Rickard to inherit leadership of the house, he must have been the heir of the previous generation. His younger brother Arnolf stood behind him in that line of succession.
He died before 282 AC, and no further details of his life survive in the sources.
