Torrhen Karstark
Torrhen Karstark was the second son of Lord Rickard Karstark, head of House Karstark, a Stark bannerman house. His sister Alys fondly called him Torr.
When Robb Stark called his northern vassals to arms, Torrhen travelled to Winterfell with his father and brothers, and joined the host that would march south.
Chapter 1
The Whispering Wood
298 AC
When Robb Stark called his bannermen, Torrhen travelled to Winterfell with his father, Lord Rickard Karstark, and his brothers, joining the host that would march south. There he became part of Robb Stark's personal guard.
It was in the battle of the Whispering Wood, where Robb Stark's army clashed with Jaime Lannister's, that Torrhen was killed by Jaime Lannister himself while serving at the young king's side.
Chapter 2
The price of his death
News of his death, and of his brother Eddard's, did not go unanswered: in A Storm of Swords, Rickard Karstark takes matters into his own hands and kills two prisoners of war, Willem Lannister and Tion Frey, in retaliation.
It is the only time Torrhen's name resurfaces in the story — not for anything he did, but for the price his father chose to exact for his death.
