Martell father of Maron

Not to be confused with Martell (mother of Doran).

Nymeros Martell was Lord of Sunspear and Prince of Dorne during the reign of Baelor I Targaryen, leading House Martell through the years when Dorne and the Iron Throne put a long war behind them.

His name is tied to the pact that sealed that peace: the betrothal of his daughter Myriah to a nephew of the king, and the care he took over Baelor's life during his crossing of the Dornish desert.

Chapter 1

A marriage to end the war

Books only

After years of conflict between Dorne and the Iron Throne, a marriage pact ended the fighting: King Baelor I Targaryen and the Dornish prince sealed the peace by binding their houses through marriage.

Myriah, the prince's eldest daughter, was betrothed to Daeron Targaryen, the king's nephew; both were still children, so the wedding was left for when they came of age.

Chapter 2

Guarding the king through the desert

Books only

With the terms of the war settled and Prince Aemon Targaryen freed, King Baelor travelled to Wyl. For the journey back to King's Landing, the prince offered him a galley, but the young king refused, insisting on making the crossing on foot because he believed the Seven demanded it.

The prince then ordered his vassals to escort him and give him shelter across the desert, fearing that if Baelor died, Prince Viserys, the Hand of the King, would restart the war.

Chapter 3

The heir the marriage brought

Books only

Years later, once his daughter Myriah married King Daeron II Targaryen, the prince's son Maron became his heir. In time, Maron succeeded him as Lord of Sunspear and Prince of Dorne.
