Maron Martell
Maron Nymeros Martell was Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen.
His marriage to one of the king's sisters ended centuries of Dornish independence and brought Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms, though on terms no other great house ever managed to wring from the Iron Throne.
Chapter 1
The heir of Sunspear

Maron was born the son of the Prince of Dorne and had an older sister, Myriah. When she married King Daeron II Targaryen, young Maron became heir to Sunspear.
In time he inherited his father's title and became Prince of Dorne, head of House Martell.
Chapter 2
The marriage that united Dorne

Soon after taking the crown, Daeron II opened negotiations with his brother-in-law to bring Dorne under Targaryen rule. The agreement took two years to settle: Maron agreed to marry the king's younger sister, Princess Daenerys, once she flowered.
They wed the following year. With that marriage Maron swore an oath of loyalty to the Iron Throne; king and prince walked together from the Red Keep and laid a garland of flowers before the statue of the septon Baelor the Blessed.
Chapter 3
The concessions and the Water Gardens

The agreement left Dorne with terms no other great house had ever won: Sunspear kept its royal title, the autonomy of its own laws, and the right to collect the taxes owed to the Iron Throne under only occasional oversight from the capital.
To mark his marriage, Maron had the Water Gardens built. His marriage to Daenerys produced several children, and the eldest presumably inherited from him the title of Prince of Dorne.
