Myriah Martell
Myriah Martell was a princess of Dorne who, through marriage, became queen of the Seven Kingdoms: her wedding to King Daeron II Targaryen sealed the peace between Dorne and the Iron Throne after generations of war between the two.
She's remembered above all for what she brought with her to court — the customs of her homeland, which not everyone in King's Landing was glad to receive.
Chapter 1
Dorne's firstborn daughter
Books only
Myriah was the eldest daughter of the Prince of Dorne, born while Daeron I Targaryen still sat the Iron Throne. She had a younger brother, Maron.
Years later, her father found a way to end the war between Dorne and the Iron Throne: he struck a peace with King Baelor I Targaryen, a cousin of Daeron I. Part of that agreement tied Myriah's future to a boy she had never met — Daeron, grandson of the King's Hand Viserys and son of Viserys's eldest son, Aegon.
Both she and Daeron were still children when the betrothal was sealed, so the marriage itself would have to wait until they were grown.
Chapter 2
Queen of the Seven Kingdoms
170–184 ACBooks only
Daeron and Myriah married once they'd both come of age, and in 184 AC they took the throne together as king and queen. The same chronicles, though, place the birth of their eldest son, Baelor, fourteen years earlier, in 170 AC — the dates don't line up, and nothing in the record explains which of the two is wrong.
They had three more sons: Aerys, Rhaegel, and Maekar. The marriage is remembered as a happy one.
Myriah brought Dornish customs to the Red Keep, and not everyone at court welcomed them. She kept the dark hair and dark eyes typical of House Martell, and those same features showed so strongly in Baelor that some courtiers began saying he looked more like a Martell than a Targaryen.
That whisper didn't stay a passing remark — it became one of the seeds that, in time, grew into the Blackfyre Rebellion.
Nothing survives about Myriah's final years. The only certainty is that Daeron II died of the Great Spring Sickness; whether she outlived him, no source says.
