Qarl Correy
Qarl Correy was a knight of modest birth who entered the service of House Velaryon at High Tide and became part of Laenor Velaryon's inner circle.
His name remained tied to an unexplained flight, an episode Lord Corlys tried to unravel by offering a fortune for his capture, one that Septon Eustace and the jester Mushroom never told the same way twice.

Rhaenyra TargaryenCorrey served as a knight under House Velaryon at their seat of High Tide. When Ser Joffrey Lonmouth died, Qarl took his place in Laenor Velaryon's affections and became his lover.
The jester Mushroom claimed that on more than one occasion the three of them shared a bed, and that Princess Rhaenyra enjoyed watching her husband and his lover together. Mushroom later contradicted himself, though: in another version of his account, the princess left the two men alone and went off with her own lover, Ser Harwin Strong.

The fair at Spicetown

Corlys VelaryonAt a fair in Spicetown, Qarl and Laenor argued loudly until the quarrel turned violent: the knight killed his former lover. Fleeing the scene, he wounded several men who tried to stop him, and a ship was said to be waiting for him on the coast. He was never seen again.
Septon Eustace put the killing down to Ser Qarl's jealousy. Mushroom, instead, pointed to Prince Daemon Targaryen: in his account, the prince wanted his niece Rhaenyra widowed, and it was Daemon himself who killed Qarl aboard the ship sent to collect him. Lord Corlys Velaryon offered ten thousand gold dragons to whoever handed over Ser Correy.

A commoner's purse, a lord's tastes
Despite his modest birth, Ser Qarl was known for living beyond his means: he spent like a lord on a commoner's purse, and was not above joining in reckless wagers.
