House Cafferen of Fawnton is a noble house of the Stormlands, sworn to House Baratheon and lords of Fawnton. Nearly everything known of them comes from Robert's Rebellion, where they switched sides partway through the war and paid for it with their lord's head.

The loyalty that didn't last

Randyll TarlyWhen Robert's Rebellion broke out, Lord Cafferen sided with House Targaryen, alongside the lords of Houses Fell and Grandison. The three planned to join their armies against the rebels, but Lord Robert Baratheon didn't give them the chance: he met them separately and defeated them one by one at the battle of Summerhall. Cafferen was taken prisoner.
At some later point, the Cafferens abandoned the Targaryen cause and joined the rebel side instead. That change didn't save their lord's life: at the battle of Ashford, fighting now for Robert, Lord Cafferen was killed by Randyll Tarly, who cut off his head and sent it to King Aerys II Targaryen.
