House Caswell of Bitterbridge is a noble house of the Reach, sworn to House Tyrell, seated in the bridge-town that gives it its name and that guards one of the crossings of the Roseroad. Under a golden centaur with a drawn bow, its lords have been pulled again and again into the great wars of succession that have shaken the Seven Kingdoms, almost never by choice.

Ormund HightowerDuring the Dance of the Dragons, Tom Flowers, the Bastard of Bitterbridge, swore himself to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and led troops at the Battle of the Honeywine. There the dragon Tessarion's fire caught him when Prince Daeron joined the fight, and he burned on the field.
Prince Maelor Targaryen's murder cost Bitterbridge dearly: Lord Ormund Hightower burned the town in reprisal and came to demand answers of Lady Caswell. She asked only for mercy for her children, then hanged herself from the castle walls.

Generations later, the house fought for the Targaryens in the Blackfyre Rebellion. Ser Kyle claimed to have saved Lord Armond Caswell's life during that war, and years afterward Armond's son, Lord Joffrey Caswell, unhorsed him in the first tilt of the tourney at Whitewalls.
