House Charlton

Casa Charlton

House Charlton is a noble house of the Riverlands, a bannerman house of House Frey of the Twins, whose sigil shows three sprigs of mistletoe on a golden field.

Before swearing fealty to the Twins, its lords once wore their own crown as Kings of the Trident.

Chapter 1

Kings of the Trident

Books only

When King Bernarr II Justman died, the Riverlands fell into a century of war between rival houses for supremacy over the Trident. Members of House Charlton ruled during that time as one more of the minor lines contesting the river crown.

At some point in the centuries that followed — the source does not say when, only that it fell within the last six hundred years — the house left that independence behind and swore fealty to House Frey of the Twins.

Chapter 2

On the nephew's side

Books only

When Prince Aegon Targaryen decided to overthrow his uncle, King Maegor I Targaryen, few lords dared to march at his side. Lord Charlton was one of them, and threw his house's lot in with the rebellion.

Chapter 3

Mistletoe before Riverrun

Books only

When Ser Daven Lannister took command before the walls of Riverrun, the Charlton mistletoe flew among the banners gathered under him.
