He was the younger brother of Viserys and Daemon Targaryen, and his short life was shaped by the circumstances surrounding his birth.

A difficult birth

Aegon's birth, in the year 84 after the Conquest, was especially hard on his mother, Princess Alyssa. The labor dragged on so long that her husband, Prince Baelon, said he would sooner fight a dozen battles than go through such an ordeal.
Alyssa, laughing, told him that once she recovered they would have another child. She never got the chance.
Chapter 2
The death of mother and son
84 ACBooks only
Alyssa never fully recovered from the birth and died that same year. Aegon outlived her by only half a year, dying shortly before his first name day.
