House Lefford of the Golden Tooth

The Golden Tooth guards the one easy gate into the Westerlands from the east, and ever since the first Andals settled the region, that castle has answered to the name Lefford. The house swears fealty to Casterly Rock and carries a sigil rarely seen in the west: a golden pile on a field of blue, with a sun peeking from one corner of the sky.
Minor bannermen among the great names of the west, the Leffords owe their standing to where they sit, not to the strength of their swords: whoever holds the Golden Tooth holds the gate.
Chapter 1
The gate the Andals inherited

When the Andals crossed the Narrow Sea and reached the west, the Kings of the Rock chose marriage over war for their last enemies, wedding their children to the newcomers instead of fighting them to the end.
House Lefford was born of those bargains, settled at the Golden Tooth, the castle that watches the eastern gate into the Westerlands. They have served House Lannister as bannermen ever since, their sigil still marking them as outsiders in the west.

The lakeshore

Aegon II TargaryenWhen the Dance of the Dragons split the dragon's blood in two, Lord Humfrey Lefford threw his house behind Aegon II, putting his men under the green banner.
He led the green army at the Battle of the Lakeshore. He lost, and he did not come back from that field.
Chapter 3
The price of loyalty

Generations later, when House Blackfyre rose against the Iron Throne, the Leffords did not waver: they stood with the Targaryens.
That loyalty cost their lord his life, killed just outside Lannisport by Ser Quentyn Ball.
