Great Moraq
Great Moraq is a large island in the Summer Sea, off the coast of Qarth, closing the southern end of the passage known as the Jade Gates and dividing that sea from the Jade Sea.
Its two settlements, Faros and Moraq Port, live off the trade that circles the Jade Sea, on land that at some point fell under the rule of an emperor of the Golden Empire of Yi Ti.
Chapter 1
The southern gate of the Jade Gates
Books only
Great Moraq lies off Qarth and marks the southern edge of the Jade Gates, the passage dividing the waters of the Summer Sea from those of the Jade Sea.
On the island's western coast stands the city of Faros; on the southern coast, facing the Cinnamon Strait, sits Moraq Port. Prevailing winds leave the eastern coast nearly empty, with only a few small settlements, while the western coast depends on the trade circling the Jade Sea.
