Hornoth

Hornoth was one of the river cities of the Kingdom of Sarnor, raised on the banks of the Sarne and bound to Kyth and Rathylar by the trade of building boats to sail its waters.

Only ruins remain of it now, wiped out during the Century of Blood when Dothraki hosts swept across the kingdom's lands.

Chapter 1

City on the Sarne

Books only

Hornoth stood on the banks of the Sarne, on a stretch of deep blue water that could only be crossed by boat. It was one of the river settlements of the Kingdom of Sarnor.

It shared that stretch with two neighboring cities, Kyth and Rathylar. Between the three of them they built the boats that made it possible to sail the Sarne, so river traffic depended largely on them.

Chapter 2

The fury of two khals

Books only

The Century of Blood changed that. The Dothraki began attacking the Kingdom of Sarnor, and after the fall of Sallosh, Hornoth's turn came.

The city was destroyed along with Kyth, not by a single khalasar but by two rival khals competing to outdo each other in savagery. Nothing was left standing after that attack, only the ruin that gives the place its name today.
