Jhala
Jhala is the largest of the Summer Isles, a land of green mountains, steaming jungles and dark sand beaches that dwarfs the rest of the archipelago in size.
Less populated than neighboring Walano, its valleys hold cities, forests and wildlife found nowhere else in the isles.
Chapter 1
The largest island of the archipelago
Books only
Jhala stretches nearly 200 leagues from end to end, making it the largest of the Summer Isles. Green mountains rise above steaming jungles, though its forest cover is thinner than that of Walano or Omboru. Powerful rivers, home to monstrous crocodiles, run down into fertile valleys and beaches of green and black sand.
Its land holds the city of Ebonshire, the Valley of the Red Flower and the Sweet Lotus Vale, along with a peninsula known as the Golden Cape. Together with Omboru, it is the only place in the archipelago where heartwood grows. Its mountains are also home to a unique species of ape, the Silverskins, found nowhere else among the Summer Isles.
Despite its size, Jhala is less populated than Walano.
Chapter 2

To the north, the Indigo Straits separate Jhala from Omboru. To the south, the waters of the Parrot Bay set it apart from Doquu and the Bones.
Moluu lies to the east, and north of the Golden Head peninsula stands the island of Lizard Head.
