Nefer
Nefer is a port city in Essos, wrapped in endless fog on the shores of the Shivering Sea, in the heart of what was once N'ghai.
Travelers call it the Secret City because only a handful of rooftops show above ground while most of its streets lie buried underneath, and its reputation for necromancers and torturers keeps away all but those with real reason to come.
Chapter 1
The city beneath the hills

Nefer sits in the northwest of N'ghai, right where a river meets the sea across from the Thousand Islands. To the southwest lie the plains of the Jogos Nhai, and to the southeast stretches the Bleeding Sea, leaving the city at a crossing of different peoples and waters.
Ringed by chalk hills, Nefer shows the harbor little more than a modest village. Nine streets out of every ten are said to run beneath those hills, and that is where the real city lives. That hidden geometry is what earned it the name Secret City.

The last corner of N'ghai

Corlys VelaryonOf everything that was once N'ghai, Nefer is the only piece left standing, and it now serves as capital of that shrunken land. Its people carry a reputation as necromancers and torturers, a trade that suits a city which would rather hide underground than be seen.
It was there that Corlys Velaryon became the first man of Westeros to set foot in its streets, his journey opening up a city that until then existed for Westerosi only as rumor.
