Nightsong
Nocturnia
Nightsong is the castle that closes off the western edge of the Stormlands, standing in the Dornish Marches just north of the Prince's Pass.
Its Singing Towers have watched that border for centuries: few keeps in the realm have weathered so many sieges. Its history is, above all, one of an unending war against the armies that come up from Dorne.
Chapter 1
The borders that burned
Books only
For the last thousand years, Nightsong has held the western edge of the Stormlands against Dorne. No other stronghold in the region has weathered so many sieges — thirty-seven, by the count kept of it.
One of those sieges came during the First Dornish War. Lord Fowler put the walls to the torch and dragged off everyone who held the castle as prisoners, lords included.
Chapter 2
The Vulture King
Books only
Aenys I sat the Iron Throne when the Vulture King laid siege to Nightsong and tried to take it.
He broke off the siege and turned west; Lady Ellyn Caron went after him, seizing on the retreat.
Chapter 3
The end of House Caron
Books only
Before the Battle of the Blackwater, Nightsong belonged to House Caron. That ended when Ser Philip Foote killed Lord Bryce Caron — and the line died with him.
The Iron Throne handed the Caron lands, rights, and titles to a newly risen house, House Foote of Nightsong.
