Port of Ibben
el Puerto de Ibben
The Port of Ibben is one of the great cities of the island of Ib, known for its whaling ships and for the whale-oil lamps that light its streets at night.
Its vessels and its hairy sailors turn up across the known world, from the harbours of Westeros to the mansions of Pentos, and its remoteness makes it the place some imagine when there is nowhere else left to go.
Chapter 1
The port at the edge of the desert
Books only
Beyond the docks, the island's interior turns to desert, crossed only by mammoths. The city itself sits where two great rivers reach the sea, with Ib Nor as its northern neighbour.
When the Ironborn reached the height of their reach, their longships even found their way here, at the far edge of the known world.
Chapter 2
A name that smells of tar
Books only
In Pentos, Daenerys Targaryen notices several broad, hairy men from the Port of Ibben among the guests gathered at Khal Drogo's mansion.
In King's Landing, Catelyn Tully spots a bellied whaling ship with a tarred hull moored in the harbour, flying the same origin.
And when Eddard Stark warns Cersei Lannister that he knows her secret, it is the Port of Ibben itself that he names as a place to vanish to.
Chapter 3
Oysters for the Ibbenese sailors
Books only
Going by the name Cat of the Canals, Arya Stark sells oysters at Ragman's Harbour, and among her regular customers are sailors from the Port of Ibben, onto whose ships she sometimes climbs to hawk her wares.
Chapter 4
The destination Jon weighs for Arya

Now serving as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, Jon Snow considers getting his sister Arya Stark to safety across the narrow sea, and among the destinations he weighs for her is the Port of Ibben itself.
The physical world
Más allá del puerto, hacia el interior, se encuentran zonas desérticas donde habitan los mamuts. La ciudad se encuentra en la desembocadura de los dos ríos principales de la isla y al norte se encuentra la ciudad de Ib Nor.
