Sarhoy
Sarhoy was a rhoynar city built out over the water on the coast of the Summer Sea, and for generations one of that people's great ports.
Its name stayed tied forever to its end: razed by Volantis, and later remembered as the passage through which Princess Nymeria led her people away from the ruin of Valyria.
Chapter 1
The pink port

Sarhoy began as a floating rhoynar city, built out over the water in shades of pink that set it apart from a distance.
Salt-water canals ran through it, lined with gardens, and its harbor rose in stacked tiers, each one opening onto a different mouth where the Rhoyne reached the sea.
For as long as it stood, it was one of its people's great trading ports.
Chapter 2
The Second Spice War
Books only
As Volantis, a city of Valyrian blood, grew in size, Sarhoy became its rival for trade along the coast.
The rivalry was settled by force in the Second Spice War: Valyria's dragonlords came to Volantis's aid, and three dragons descended on the rhoynar port.
The city was besieged and burned, its defenders killed, its children taken into slavery.
The victors weren't content with destroying it — they salted what remained so nothing would grow there again.
Chapter 3
Nymeria's escape canal
Books only
Sarhoy's old canal remained passable after the city's fall, and it was through it that Princess Nymeria led her people away from Valyria's doom, at the head of a fleet numbering in the thousands, bound for the Summer Sea.
Nothing but ruin was left of the pink city by then; it stands that way still, empty and said to be haunted.
