Southshield is one of the Shield Islands, set where the Mander meets the sea, and for generations it was the seat of House Serry. Its history changed hands the day the ironborn took the whole archipelago by force.
Expedition against Pyke
Under the Serrys, the island lent ships to a fight far from its own shores: when Lord Alyn Velaryon gathered a fleet to put an end to Dalton Greyjoy's raids on the Reach, three galleys out of Southshield joined the expedition bound for the Iron Islands.

Euron's Conquest
Serry rule over the island ended with Euron Greyjoy's arrival. In the Battle of the Shield Islands the ironborn seized Southshield along with the rest of the archipelago, and King Euron granted its lordship to Andrik the Unsmiling.
