The Bone Mountains

las Montañas de los Huesos

The Bone Mountains, or simply the Bones, are the great mountain range that crosses Essos from end to end, running from the Steel Road to the Jade Sea. Their size and central position make them one of the continent's most decisive natural boundaries.

Chapter 1

The spine of Essos

Books only

The range carries another name, Krazaaj Zasqa, along the stretch between the Shivering Sea and the Steel Road; beyond that point it remains the same chain of mountains under the name of the Bones.

Its course splits Essos into two halves. To the west lie the Dothraki Sea and the Red Waste; to the east, the Great Sand Sea and the lands of Yi Ti. Cities such as Bayasabhad, and ruins such as Adakhakileki, lie scattered on either side of the range.

The physical world

Por el lado oriental se localizan las ciudades de Bayasabhad y Shamyriana y en el lado occidental las ruinas de Vaes Jini y Adakhakileki, además del Mar del Veneno.

The position was inferred from the label on the base map rather than from a symbol of its own: it marks the area, not the point.
