Torrhen's Square

Ciudadela de Torrhen

Torrhen's Square is the seat of House Tallhart, south of the Wolfswood and on the shore of a great lake northeast of the Rills. Ten metres of stone wall ring its square corner towers and central keep, a defence that looks solid enough on paper.

Through the war that pits the Five Kings against one another, its isolated position makes it both bait and refuge, and its walls see sieges, pleas for help, and prisoners from across the North.

Chapter 1

The siege built to lure Winterfell

Books only

In this chapterTheon Greyjoy

Theon Greyjoy sends Dagmer Cleftjaw to lay siege to Torrhen's Square, and taking it isn't really the point. The logic is simpler: if the Tallharts are hanging by a thread, Winterfell will send men to save them.

The trick works. Ser Rodrik Cassel pulls the bulk of the garrison out of Winterfell to relieve the siege, breaks Dagmer's lines, and sends the ironborn back to the Stony Shore.

Chapter 2

The raven from Castle Black

Books only

From the Wall, Maester Aemon calls for help: a raven reaches Torrhen's Square asking for men to defend Castle Black, under attack by wildlings.

The request drains the castle at the worst possible moment. With the Stark forces marching for Winterfell, Cleftjaw comes back — and this time he takes it.

Chapter 3

The Tallharts held captive

Books only

With the castle in his hands, Dagmer keeps the Tallharts prisoner within those same walls.

Asha Greyjoy, held captive by Stannis Baratheon, offers to help him free Torrhen's Square. The king turns down the detour — he'd rather march straight on Winterfell.

The physical world

Es considerada una fortaleza fuerte, pero no lo suficiente.
