Vaes Qosar (Qolahn)

Vaes Qosar is a ruined city in the Red Waste, in eastern Essos, lying between Qarkash and Qarth.

Before it was reduced to rubble it bore the name Qolahn, and today it is remembered only as a waypoint on the road to Qarth.

Chapter 1

The end of Qolahn

Books only

Under the Dothraki name Vaes Qosar —"city of spiders"— lies a much older foundation: Qolahn, a Qaathi city-state.

The Dothraki razed it during the Bleeding Century, and all that remained of that civilization were the ruins that now give the place its name, lying east of Qarkash and northwest of Qarth, in the southeastern stretch of the Red Waste.

Chapter 2

A stop on the road to Qarth

Books only

In this chapterDaenerys Targaryen

On their journey to Qarth, Daenerys Targaryen and her khalasar pass through the ruins of Vaes Qosar.

Nothing more is recorded of this than the crossing itself: no encounter, no incident, just the name of the dead city marking a stage of the road.

The physical world

El nombre de la ciudad es de origen Dothraki. Vaes significa ciudad y Qosar significa araña, por lo que se podría traducir como "ciudad de las arañas".
