Witch Isle is a small island off the coast of the Vale of Arryn, seat of House Upcliff.
It was not always part of the Vale's realm: it joined centuries later, and not by conquest, but through a royal marriage.

An island won by marriage

For generations the island stood apart from the realm of the Vale, ruled by its own House Upcliff lords. That changed under King Alester II Arryn.
There was no siege, no landing: Alester II took Arwen Upcliff as his wife, and through that union the island was bound to House Arryn's crown, something no earlier campaign had managed.
