House Upcliff

On this tab

House Upcliff of Witch Isle is a house sworn to House Arryn in the Vale, seated on the island that gives it its name.

Unlike other island houses of the region, it did not come under Arryn rule through conquest but through marriage, and it carries a reputation for being sinister folk.

Annexation by Marriage

The Upcliffs carry a sinister reputation among the people of the Vale, one the other island houses nearby do not share.

That difference also shows in how they came under Arryn rule: while other islands were brought in by the sword, Witch Isle joined the Vale when King Alester II Arryn married Arwen Upcliff.
