Alester II Arryn
Alester II Arryn was King of Mountain and Vale, one of the rulers who governed that region before it submitted to the Iron Throne.
He is remembered for adding the lands of House Upcliff to the kingdom, not through arms but through marriage.

His predecessors, Kings Hugh and Hugo Arryn, had expanded the Vale kingdom through conquest.
Alester II chose a different path: he married Arwen Upcliff, and through that union the lands of House Upcliff became part of the kingdom of Mountain and Vale.
