Wyl
Not to be confused with Wyl (river).
Wyl is the seat of House Wyl, raised in Dorne beside the pass known as the Boneway, near where the river that shares its name reaches the sea.
Its place in the history of Westeros comes from an episode of the First Dornish War, when a lord of this house drew the direct response of King Aegon I Targaryen.

In the year 7 AC, during the opening stage of the First Dornish War, the lord of Wyl freed Lord Orys Baratheon and other prisoners taken by the Dornish. He demanded their weight in gold in return, and before sending them on to King's Landing he had the sword hand cut from every one of them.
Aegon I Targaryen answered from the sky, descending on the castle astride Balerion and melting its watchtowers and walls with dragonfire. The people of Wyl who escaped the flames did so by taking shelter in caves carved into the mountain beneath the stronghold.
