Alyrie Florent

Alyrie Florent was the wife of Ser Otto Hightower and the mother of the two children she had with him, Gwayne and Alicent Hightower.

Little is recorded of her own life beyond the marriage and the children: it is through her husband and her daughter that her name keeps turning up in the accounts of the court at King's Landing.

Chapter 1

The Council that remembered her

In this chapterOtto Hightower

At a meeting of the Small Council in 112 AC, Prince Daemon reminds Otto Hightower that his wife Alyrie has recently died. The remark tells the council nothing new — Daemon already knows — it is meant only to unsettle Otto in front of the others.

The atlas gives that same year, 112, for Alyrie's death, with the same caution the source itself uses: it is the date on record, not a settled certainty. Beyond that note and Daemon's remark, nothing else is recorded of her final years.

Chapter 2

The mother they remember

In this chapterAlicent Hightower

During the coup in which the Greens crown Aegon II at King's Landing, Otto Hightower remarks that his daughter Alicent resembles her mother in certain ways.

Later, as queen dowager, Alicent lights a candle for Alyrie in the city's Great Sept and speaks her name aloud.
