House Justman was the dynasty that came to rule much of the Riverlands as Kings of the Trident, generations after the Andal invasion. They were not born with that name: the first of their line earned it through a reputation for just rule.
For nearly three hundred years they were the house to beat for control of the Trident, until a war against the Iron Islands ended their line and left the region without a clear ruler for a long time after.
Chapter 1
The bastard who made himself king

Benedict Rivers was born a bastard of Houses Blackwood and Bracken, and carved out his throne through years of war against the other lords of the Trident. Once he had beaten them all, he crowned himself. He ruled with a reputation for justice, and that reputation gave his new house its name: Justman.
His son Benedict II inherited both the crown and the drive to expand. Benedict I had already pushed his domain as far as Maidenpool and the Neck; Benedict II added Darry, Rosby, and part of the Blackwater Bay coast. In two generations, a house with no land of its own came to control much of the Trident's course.
Chapter 2
The end of a three-hundred-year kingdom

Bernarr II Justman was the last king of his line. Qhored Hoare, King of the Iron Islands, killed his sons, and the campaign Bernarr waged in response is described as a hopeless one. It did not save his house.
With the Justmans' fall, the Riverlands were left with no one to take their place. The region went without firm rule for a full century.
Chapter 3
Kings with no sure crown

Once Storm King Arlan III Durrandon had finished subduing the Riverlands, several men proclaimed themselves Kings of the Trident, none of them able to hold the title. Among them was Lucifer Justman, who claimed descent from the fallen royal line, though that kinship was never confirmed.
