When Lady Jeyne Arryn died and the regent Ser Corwyn Corbray was murdered, the Vale was left with no one able to hold the peace. A dispute over the Eyrie broke out among several of the region's houses, during the reign of Aegon III Targaryen.

The Tolletts did not hesitate: they followed their liege lord, House Royce, and backed Ser Arnold Arryn's claim to the seat. For them it was a matter of loyalty rather than ambition of their own.

Generations later, when Petyr Baelish took the office of Lord Protector of the Vale, Lord Yohn Royce began gathering support among the vassal houses to strip him of power.

The Tolletts joined that cause alongside other families close to House Royce. Their place in that camp answered to no grievance of their own, but to the same loyalty their line had shown generations before.
