Gerold Royce
Gerold Royce is a knight of House Royce and cousin to Lady Rhea Royce. His name became tied to the doubts raised by his cousin's death and to the public accusation he made over it during a royal wedding in King's Landing.

A death that doesn't add up

Rhea RoyceGerold crosses paths with his cousin Rhea, who is riding out alone to hunt, and offers to go with her; she turns him down and rides on.
Word soon reaches him that Rhea has died falling from her horse during that same hunt. Gerold doesn't buy it: he knows his cousin as an exceptional rider and huntress, and starts to suspect that Daemon, Rhea's husband, had a hand in the accident.

Laenor VelaryonSome time later, Gerold travels to the capital to witness the wedding of the heir to the throne, Rhaenyra Targaryen, to Ser Laenor Velaryon. There, in front of the guests, he names Daemon as the one responsible for Rhea's fatal fall.
Daemon meets the accusation with mockery and tells him he'll do what he can to claim Runestone for himself.
