House Yronwood of Yronwood is the oldest noble house in Dorne after the Martells, whom they serve as vassals. They still hold the title of Bloodroyal, a legacy from the age when they ruled much of the region before the Rhoynar arrived, and their weight in Dornish politics remains greater than that of any other lesser house.

Long before Nymeria led her people across the Narrow Sea, the Yronwoods already sat on a throne of their own, ruling over a large stretch of Dorne with lands that dwarfed those held by the Martells.
What remains of that age is the title of Bloodroyal, still carried by the head of the family.
Chapter 2
The war against Nymeria and the enemy it left behind

When Nymeria landed with her people, the Yronwoods did not bow without a fight: they took up arms against her and against the Martells in the war that ended with Dorne unified under one throne.
Defeat did not erase their power, but it left behind a rivalry with the Martells that still stands. To that enmity was added another, the one they hold with House Fowler, steady allies of Sunspear.
Chapter 3
With Blackfyre against Sunspear

Centuries later, the Yronwoods rose against the Martells once more, this time at the side of Aegor Rivers. They joined his cause in three of the Blackfyre Rebellions, taking up arms against the Targaryens and against their own Dornish overlords at once.
