Ghost Hill

Colina Fantasma

Ghost Hill is the seat of House Toland, raised on a limestone bluff along Dorne's stretch of the Broken Arm.

Its name and white walls have made it a recognizable point on the coastline, but also a target: Aegon the Conqueror's campaign and the wars Dorne fought afterward left it scarred by fire more than once.

Chapter 1

A plaster watchtower over the sea

Books only

Ghost Hill rises on a tall limestone hill along the southern coast of the Sea of Dorne, on the stretch of the Broken Arm where House Toland has its seat. Below the castle spreads a fishing town that lives off the sea.

Its walls are coated in white plaster, and from a distance they seem to glow with the deep blue of the water around them.

Chapter 2

The jester in the champion's place

Books only

When King Aegon I Targaryen reached Ghost Hill during the First Dornish War, word came that Lord Toland would send his champion to face him. Aegon defeated him, only to learn the champion was no warrior at all: a jester dressed for battle, while the lord of the castle and his household had already fled.

The conquest did not last. Less than a fortnight after Aegon returned to King's Landing, the Dornish retook the strongholds he had seized and put the garrisons left behind to the sword.

Chapter 3

Visenya's fire

8 ACBooks only

In 8 AC, with the war still raging, Queen Visenya Targaryen returned to Dorne astride Vhagar. In retaliation for Dornish raids on Cape Wrath and the Rainwood, she set fire to Sunspear, Lemonwood, Tor, and Ghost Hill.

The Toland stronghold burned along with the rest, one more seat among those the dragon queen put to the torch that year.

Chapter 4

The fleet that never landed

83 ACBooks only

In 83 AC, Prince Morion Martell sailed from Ghost Hill and Tor with a fleet bound for the Stormlands.

He never set foot ashore: the king and his sons burned his ships before he could land, in the episode remembered as the Fourth Dornish War.

The physical world

Como su nombre indica, la fortaleza se encuentra en lo alto de una alta colina de caliza desde donde se domina el Mar de Dorne, a cuyos pies se encuentra un poblado.
