Oros
Oros was one of the great cities of the Valyrian Freehold, raised on the northern coast of the Smoking Sea, and today it is nothing but ruins.
It was remembered as a rich and splendid city, second only to Valyria itself in grandeur, though it never ruled its own fate.
Chapter 1
The city with no ruler of its own
Books only
The Valyrian Freehold founded Oros on the northern shore of the Smoking Sea, facing the Summer Isles across the water, and Valyrian roads linked it to Mantarys and to another ruined city to the northeast. Across the sea stood the ruins of Tyria.
Oros never had a government of its own: envoys sent by the Freehold ruled it in Valyria's name. Even so, it was spoken of as a wealthy city, surpassed in splendor only by Valyria itself.
Chapter 2
The ruins and the rumor
Books only
The Doom of Valyria destroyed Oros along with the rest of the Freehold. Since then it has been nothing but a field of ruins on the shore of the Smoking Sea.
There are unreliable rumors that something dwells among those stones: evil beings that survived the destruction. Others deny it, and hold that what remains there is not life, but the Doom itself, still lingering over the land.
