Vaes Orvik
Vaes Orvik is today a ruined city south of the Red Waste, on the shores of the Summer Sea, between Vaes Shirosi and Yhos.
Its name, of Dothraki origin, speaks not of those who founded it, but of those who destroyed it.
Chapter 1
The city of the whip
Books only
Before its present ruin, Vaes Orvik was a city-state of the Qaathi, one of the peoples settled along the stretch of Essos bordering the Red Waste.
It fell during the Bleeding Century, when Dothraki riders swept through the region. Its name comes from that slaughter: vaes means city in Dothraki, and orvik, whip. They named it so for the number of slaves taken from its streets.
The physical world
El nombre de la ciudad es de origen Dothraki. Vaes significa ciudad y Orvik significa látigo, por lo que se podría traducir como "ciudad del látigo".
