Vaes Shirosi
Vaes Shirosi is today a scatter of ruins in Essos, south of the Red Waste, once neighbour to other Qaathi cities such as Vaes Orvik and Qarkash.
Its name, of Dothraki root, recalls the scorpion, and that is nearly all that remains certain about a place erased long before anyone wrote its history down.

The city of the scorpion

The Dothraki gave the place a name built from two of their own words: vaes, city, and shirosi, drawn from shiro, scorpion. Together they read as something like 'city of scorpions', a name that outlasted the people who used it.
It stood on the southern edge of the Red Waste, with Qarkash to the east and, further west, Yhos and the fallen stones of Vaes Orvik. Before it fell to ruin, it had been a Qaathi city-state, one among several scattered across that stretch of Essos.
Chapter 2
What the Century of Blood left behind

Vaes Shirosi's end came at Dothraki hands, during the wars and pillaging Essos remembers as the Century of Blood. Like so many other Qaathi cities, it did not survive the riders' passage.
Nothing was left of its government or its people, only the name and the stones that still stand as evidence of a city that existed before it became a ruin.
