Humfrey Beesbury
Ser Humfrey Beesbury was a knight of House Beesbury during the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen, remembered above all for his part in the Ashford tourney.
There he fought, against his own brother-in-law, one of the most celebrated jousts of the tournament, and was later drawn into the legal fallout the tourney itself set in motion.
Chapter 1
The battle of the Humfreys
209 AC
Ser Humfrey Beesbury arrived at the Ashford tourney known as a bold young knight, riding under his house colors of yellow and black stripes with three embroidered beehives.
Among the jousts he faced his own brother-in-law, Ser Humfrey Hardyng, in a clash that stood out as the finest bout of the day and came to be called the Battle of the Humfreys. He shattered twelve lances against him, yet it was Hardyng who came away champion.
Chapter 2
The Trial of Seven
209 AC
When the tourney spiraled into a legal dispute, Humfrey fought alongside Ser Duncan the Tall in the Trial of Seven. He fell in the first pass, cut down by Ser Donnel of Darkdell.
His death, together with that of his rival Hardyng and of Prince Baelor Targaryen, kept weighing on Ser Duncan long afterward: three years later he was still turning over what had happened at that tourney.
