Alan Beesbury

Ser Alan Beesbury was a knight of House Beesbury, grandson of Lord Lyman Beesbury, who fought for Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Dance of the Dragons.

He went to war on incomplete news: Alan believed his grandfather was still alive, held in the black cells, unaware that Lyman had already been killed and that the lordship of Honeyholt had passed to him.

The lord who didn't know he was

Books only

Lord Lyman Beesbury was the first to die in the Dance of the Dragons, though how he died was never settled. His grandson Alan never found out: he thought Lyman was languishing as a prisoner in the black cells and pressed hard for his release.

When he learned that the Greens, backers of Aegon II Targaryen, were behind his grandfather's death, Alan sided with Queen Rhaenyra and joined the Blacks. The lordship of Honeyholt, already his without his knowing it, became a side matter next to the war.

In this chapterOrmund Hightower

Alan harried Lord Ormund Hightower's host alongside Lord Alan Tarly after it left Oldtown. With Lord Owen Costayne's support, the two Alans met it on the banks of the Honeywine, where a second Black army closed the trap from the other side.

Hightower's lines began to buckle and the Greens' defeat looked all but settled. Prince Daeron's arrival on dragonback, riding Tessarion, turned the battle. Alan and Alan Tarly were both taken prisoner afterward.
