Sansara Tarly
Sansara Tarly was the second daughter of Lord Donald Tarly, lord of Horn Hill, and Lady Jeyne Rowan. Her name entered history through a single letter: when the realm was searching for a new queen for the young king Aegon III Targaryen, her elder sister put her forward as a candidate, praising her character and her love of books.
Chapter 1
Lady Samantha's letter
Books only
Her father, Donald Tarly, lord of Horn Hill, had led the house through the Dance of the Dragons; Sansara was his second daughter by Jeyne Rowan, and had an elder sister, Samantha. When Queen Jaehaera Targaryen died in King's Landing, the Hand of the King, Lord Unwin Peake, moved to marry his own daughter to King Aegon III, and several lords across the realm answered by putting forward daughters of their own.
Samantha wrote a letter defending Sansara as a lively, strong girl who had read more books than half the maesters of the Citadel. In the same letter she described her sister-in-law Bethany Hightower as beautiful and soft-spoken, though also lazy and rather simple, and suggested the king marry them both: one to rule at his side, the other for bed and breeding.
Neither of them became queen.
