Fair Isle

During the Age of Heroes, the Farman kings kept fleets of their own to shield the island and the western coast from constant raids by the ironborn. That independence ended when Tommen I Lannister built a fleet larger than theirs and sealed the annexation by marrying the last Farman king's daughter, folding the island into the domain of the Kings of the Rock.

Generations later, a man named Gylbert Farman roused the commons against the Iron Islands kings who ruled there at the time. King Erich V Harlaw won the island back by force, only to lose it again once he grew too old to hold it.

Rhaena Targaryen took refuge on Fair Isle with her twin daughters after her husband, Prince Aegon Targaryen, died in the Battle Under the Gods Eye. Lord Farman sheltered them, but the hiding place did not hold: Tyanna of Pentos tracked them down.

During the Dance of the Dragons, Lord Dalton Greyjoy seized the island for the Iron Islands. Decades later, under the reign of Aerys I Targaryen, another ironborn lord, Dagon Greyjoy, sacked it again and carried off half its wealth.

In the days of Tytos Lannister, House Farman showed signs of wanting to rise again. When Tywin Lannister inherited his father's power, it took no more than sending a singer to play The Rains of Castamere before Lord Farman to smother the rebellion before it began.

In 289 AC, during the Greyjoy Rebellion, the waters off Fair Isle saw a naval clash between Victarion Greyjoy's fleet and the Crown's loyalist forces under Stannis Baratheon. Stannis won the day.
