Battle of Fair Isle

Euron and Victarion Greyjoy burned the Lannister ships at anchor in Lannisport, leaving the western coast open to the Iron Fleet.

King Robert I answered by sending his brother Stannis at the head of the royal fleet. Warships from Oldtown, the Arbor, and the Reach joined along the way, placed under Lord Paxter Redwyne's command, and with those reinforcements Stannis set course to meet the ironborn.

Stannis sprang his trap in the waters separating Fair Isle from the mainland. Victarion, leading the Iron Fleet, pushed his ships into the strait to force a quick fight; part of the royal fleet sealed the strait ahead of him while the rest circled the island to close in from behind.

There was no room to maneuver between the two shores. The larger royal ships smothered the speed and coordination the ironborn relied on, and the Iron Fleet was torn apart in the strait.

Aeron Greyjoy, the younger brother of Victarion and Euron, was captured when his ship went down under the Fury's guns, and spent the rest of the war a prisoner. Lord Rodrik Harlaw's two sons both died in the battle, leaving House Harlaw without a direct heir.

With the Iron Fleet broken, Robert I was able to cross to the Iron Islands and put down the Greyjoy Rebellion.
