Planky Town
On this tab
Planky Town is the port that guards the mouth of the Greenblood, Dorne's trading gate to the Free Cities and the wider world.
It began as rafts lashed together by landless refugees and grew into the place through which Dorne's goods, travelers, and occasionally armies pass.
Origins
Founding
It was founded by the orphans of the Greenblood, the Rhoynar who reached Dorne following Princess Nymeria. They lashed rafts together to raise the first houses, and the settlement grew as ships from the Free Cities began anchoring in its harbor. The princes of Dorne built a stronghold nearby to defend it.

Dornish Wars
Rhaenys's Attack
During the War of Conquest, Queen Rhaenys Targaryen flew over Planky Town on Meraxes, though only children and old folk came out to watch her pass. She returned in the year 4 after the Conquest, this time to set fire to the ships anchored at the river mouth: fewer than a hundred townsfolk died, most of them drowned while fleeing the flames into the water.
It was the opening blow of the First Dornish War. From there she flew on to Lemonwood and Spottswood, and then to Sunspear, which she found empty.
