Alton Celtigar
Alton Celtigar was the lord of House Celtigar and ruled Claw Isle during the reign of Aegon I Targaryen, the king who united Westeros under House Targaryen. He held one of the highest offices in the realm: Hand of the King.
He took the post after Lord Edmyn Tully stepped down, the first Hand Aegon had named, who chose to return to his children rather than remain at court.

The Hand who succeeded a Tully

In 9 AC, King Aegon I named Alton Celtigar Hand of the King. The post had fallen vacant because Lord Edmyn Tully, the previous Hand, chose to step down when he judged that his children needed him more than the realm did, after his wife died in childbirth.
The chronicles preserve little detail of his years in office, beyond that he served the king without any recorded trouble from then on.

A natural death and a successor

Alton Celtigar died of natural causes in 17 AC, after several years serving Aegon I. That same year, the king named Ser Osmund Strong to replace him as Hand of the King.
