Claw Isle

Isla Zarpa

Claw Isle is the seat of House Celtigar, a small island holding off Sharp Point, within easy sailing distance of Dragonstone.

Behind its modest walls lies a fortune that sits oddly with its lords' reputation for stinginess toward everyone else.

Chapter 1

A Castle of Hidden Riches

Books only

Claw Isle keeps only a light garrison, yet its castle holds treasures that belie that poverty: carpets brought from Myr, glassware from Volantis, plate of gold and silver, jewel-crusted goblets, hunting hawks, an axe forged of Valyrian steel, even a horn said to summon monsters from the deep, alongside chests of rubies and a cellar of fine wines.

Whoever rules the island may pinch every penny before the rest of the world, yet spares no expense on his own comfort.

Chapter 2

The Hand Comes Home

Books only

When Lord Edwell Celtigar stepped down as Hand to King Maegor I Targaryen, he returned to rule Claw Isle.

Generations later, men from the island fought in the battle of Crow's Nest on the side of the Blacks.

Chapter 3

An Island Left Without Men

Books only

When King Stannis called his banners, most of Claw Isle's garrison sailed for Dragonstone; its lord, Lord Celtigar, left behind only a handful of men to defend it.

Most of those who sailed died afterward at the battle of the Blackwater, and Celtigar himself, taken captive, ended up swearing fealty to King Joffrey Baratheon.

Chapter 4

The Reprisal That Never Came

Books only

In this chapterDavos Seaworth

With nearly all its men dead at the Blackwater, Claw Isle was left with only women, children, and the old.

Ser Axell Florent and the pirate Salladhor Saan hatched a plan to strike the island as punishment and put its people to the sword.

It was Davos Seaworth who talked Stannis out of it, a stroke that won him the appointment as Hand of the King.

The physical world

Aunque Lord Ardrian Celtigar se mostraba tacaño ante el resto del mundo, para su comodidad no reparaba en gastos.
