Armond Connington
Armond Connington was the lord of Griffin's Roost and head of his house during the reign of Aerys II Targaryen. His place in the story is less his own than the one he opened for his only son, Jon Connington, whom he raised in the family seat and tried to tie to the Targaryen cause through Prince Rhaegar himself.

Armond had only one son, Jon, and he often took him to the top of Griffin's Roost's tallest tower to point out the lands the boy would one day inherit.
That habit is nearly everything that survives of his relationship with Jon: a father showing his heir the weight and reach of the title waiting for him.
Chapter 2
Prince Rhaegar's visit

Rhaegar TargaryenPrince Rhaegar Targaryen stopped at Griffin's Roost on his way back from a journey to Dorne, and Armond used the occasion to try to draw him into his quarrel with Lord Morrigen.
Nothing more is recorded of how that attempt turned out. What is known is that Armond died a few years before Robert's Rebellion broke out, leaving the war that would be his son's to face.
