Lyra Mormont is one of the daughters of Maege Mormont, Lady of Bear Island. When the War of the Five Kings breaks out, she travels south with her mother and her elder sister Dacey, among the Mormont women who answer Robb Stark's call to arms.

When Robb Stark summons his bannermen at the start of the war, Lyra rides south with her mother's company. Her elder sister Dacey travels with them too, and the pair are counted among the Mormont women who join the Stark host.
